DIGITAL INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES AND COMMUNICATION IN CONTEMPORARY SOCIETY: A THEORETICAL-CRITICAL STUDY ON ITS USE IN EDUCATION

In search of knowledge about theoretical-critical thinking regarding Digital Information and Communication Technologies (TDIC), this study aimed to contribute and reflect on theoretical-critical depth on the concepts of digital technologies and their use in contemporary society, as well as to discuss their use in the educational context. In this context, the study aimed to develop conceptual ideas and thoughts based on the concept of technique, technology, and TDIC, coming from renowned authors who support the theme, such as Heidegger, considering his critical thoughts on modern technique; Andrew Feenberg, who delivers critical discourse on technology; Vieira Pinto, fostering dialectical logic discourse and the concept of technology; and Neil Selwyn in critical reflection on the use of TDIC in the educational context. As a methodological approach, a qualitative bibliographical research was conducted from an analytical and reflective perspective, guided by the emphasized perspective of hermeneutic-dialectic, to foster a contemporary discussion, and the pandemic scenario was added as a way of understanding the use of TDIC in education. As a result, the study showed a considerable gain in the situation of TDIC in the historical, philosophical, and epistemological context, i.e., in the relational field of science, sociology, economics, arts, and education, which expanded the discussion beyond the use and employment of TDIC, reaching the role it performs in the characterization of individuals in society beyond educational application. The study concluded that the path taken through the study brought the perspective of language, appropriation, and interpretation of facts, meeting the logic, criticism, and dialogue of the studied theories.
