subsp.brevicornis × O. provincialis)

Type:— ITALY. Liguria: Municipality of Genua, S. Rocco & Portofino Kulm, boschi di castagni, 10 Feb 1909, Guiseppe Bevilacqua s.n. (neotype: GDOR1396016 /13!, designated here; no original material was cited by De Notaris 1844).

Basionym: Orchis brevicornis var. fallax De Not., Repert. Fl. Ligust.: 385 (1844).

Homotypic synonyms: Orchis patens var. fallax (De Not.) Rchb.f. in H. G. L.Reichenbach, Icon. Fl. Germ. Helv. 13–14: 38 (1851); Orchis brevicornis subsp. fallax (De Not.) Nyman, Consp. Fl. Eur.: 694 (1882); Androrchis fallax (De Not.) W.Foelsche & Jakely, J. Eur. Orch. 41: 355 (2009).

Heterotypic synonyms: Orchis ×subpatens E.G.Camus in E. G.Camus & A. A.Camus, Iconogr. Orchid. Europe: 271 (1928). Type:— ITALY. Genua, Bergon (not found).

Orchis ×kelleri Hunz. ex G.Keller & Soó, Repert. Spec. Nov. Regni Veg. Sonderbeih. A 2: 166 (1932), nom. inval., pro syn., as ‘kellerii’; Orchis ×clandestina Hautz., Ann. Naturhist. Mus. Wien 81: 40 (1978).

Type:— ITALY. Liguria: Lavagna-Santa Giulia, 1 May 1974, L. Hautzinger s.n. (holotype: W, not seen; isotypes: K-000796424!, SZU).

Distribution:— North-western Italy, Liguria.

Note:— This natural hybrid (Fig. 1a) is morphologically intermediate between O. provincialis and O. patens subsp. brevicornis.
