Toolkit for managing digital collections

Members of the London Museum Documentation Network have developed a new toolkit for managing accessioned digital collections, edited by Kevin Bolton with support from The National Archives. This version has been fully peer reviewed by GLAM sector colleagues during workshops held in May 2021 and November 2022.  The feedback gathered has now been fully integrated into the toolkit.

The toolkit is designed as a companion piece to Spectrum with a chapter for each of the 21 procedures. It provides museum professionals with a practical suite of guidelines, taken from the digital preservation community and adapted for the needs of an accredited museum. The aim is to enable museum professionals to manage Digital Collections Objects (DCOs) in accordance with digital preservation and collections management best practice.
