Nomenclatural note

The genus Acahara Jordan & Hubbs, 1925 is currently considered as a junior synonym of Phoxinus Rafinesque, 1820 (Tan and Armbruster, 2018). However, the type species of this genus is Leuciscus semotilus Jordan & Starks, 1905 for which the valid name is Rhynchocypris semotilus (Jordan & Starks, 1905) (e.g. Lee and Sim 2017). By consequence, the genus Acahara Jordan & Hubbs, 1925 is a junior syno- nym of the genus Rhynchocypris Günther, 1889.
