Genus Dasylabris Radoszkowski, 1885

Allomutilla Ashmead 1899: 57. Type species: Mutilla melicerta Smith, 1855, ♁, by original designation. Synonymized under Dasylabris by André 1902b: 65 and 1904: 39.

Type species: Mutilla arenaria Fabricius, 1787, ♀, by subsequent designation of Ashmead 1904: 7 (junior subjective synonym of Mutilla atrata Linnaeus, 1767, ♁, according to Petersen, 1988: 141).

Diagnosis [based on Radoszkowski (1885) & Tu et al. (2014) for males and females].

Female. Eye oval, flattened. Antennal flagellomeres usually not shorted. Widest point of mesosoma at the mesonotum. Mesopleuron convex. T1 petiolate, never cylindrical, constricted posterad. Felt line present on T2 only.

Male. Body usually with dark coloration. Eye oval, slightly convex. Tegula large, punctate (punctures at least inside). Forewings dark, rarely transparent towards the apex. T1 petiolate, but not cylindrical. Felt line present on T2. Gonostylus straight or slightly curved upward towards the apex.

Species included. The genus currently includes five valid species from the Oriental Region, Dasylabris argentipes (Smith, 1855), ♀ (India: Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh; Sri Lanka); D. climia (Cameron, 1902), ♁ (India: Gujarat); D. kraciva (Nurse, 1903), ♁ (India: Gujarat); D. optima (Smith, 1855), ♀ (India: Rajasthan, Gujarat); D. rugosa (Olivier, 1811), ♁ ♀ (India: Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat; Sri Lanka) (Lelej, 2005; Brothers & Lelej, 2017; Pagliano et al., 2020). The Palaearctic D. intermedia Skorikov, 1935 penetrates into the Oriental part of China (Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Fujian).

Distribution. Widely distributed in the Old World (63 species in the Palaearctic, 105 in the Afrotropical and five in the Oriental Regions).
