Diagnosis: Geoplaninae with narrow-to-wide creeping sole, ranging between 51 and 83% of the body width. Eyes marginal. With sensory depressions. Subneural parenchymal decussate muscle present. Prostatic vesicle extrabulbar. Generally provided with a cephalic retractor muscle, branched glands associated with the prostatic vesicle and genital musculoglandular organs. Sarcoplanini include the genera Liana E.M. Froehlich, 1978, Mapuplana Grau et al., 2022, Pichidamas Bulnes et al., 2018, Sarcoplana and Wallmapuplana Negrete et al., 2020.
Type genus: Sarcoplana Almeida & Carbayo gen. nov.
Distribution: Regiones Maule, La Araucanía, Los Lagos, and Aisén (Chile); Provinces Neuquén, Rio Negro and Chubut (Argentina).
