Description
Contemporary historians increasingly (re-)use and re-purpose (historical) data from social sciences for their research activities. Analysing historical data requires a specific set of competencies in data management and data analysis that is currently not taught in historical curricula. In addition, historians lack an appropriate support structure for finding, accessing and using the data. We argue that a research data infrastructure for contemporary history should adress the need by supporting competence building, information on data and providing a forum on law and ethics in contemporary history.
