Evaluating the first module from"GET SMART PLUS 5"textbook from a Gender Perspective
Description
This abstract is based on H.Q. Mitchell and Marileni Malkogianni's thesis on sexism in the primary school textbook Get Smart Plus 5. Mitchel's (1986) criteria served as a basis for this research. The framework stands out because it takes a close look at the textbook issue of underrepresentation of women. The study's methodology prompted researchers to concentrate on such topics as the portrayal of women and men in literature and art, as well as in the workplace. Despite efforts to eliminate bias, the results show that women are still overrepresented in stereotypical roles. Pupils form stereotypes of female students when females are portrayed in the textbook in a stereotypical manner.
