Description

The poster outlines the initial steps in developing a methodology for predicting ice conditions through the use of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR)  images and model sea ice drift data. The study utilizes the Barents 2.5 v2 model to forecast sea ice drift, and the Chalmers alignment algorithm to warp the SAR images into the future. The ways of accuracy assessment of the model and algorithm are discussed.  It is planned to compare the results with drift data derived automatically from subsequent true SAR1 and SAR2 images, as well as by comparing predicted and actual SAR2 images.
