Description

High-density polyethylene (HDPE) is used in production of many different products. Unfortunately, a large portion of this HDPE is unproperly disposed and can degrade into micro and nano-plastics (MNPs). MNPs can act as vectors for pathogenic microorganisms, with potential detrimental health effects on human health. So far, the potential health hazards associated with mixture of HDPE MNPs and Candida albicans (CA) remain unexplored. Here we report the effects of such a mixture on the viability, the pro-inflammatory responses in granulocyte-like cells differentiated from HL-60 (dHL-60) and the activation of TOLL-like receptors
