Two-phase modelling of CO2 droplet plumes

  • 1. Nansen Environmental and Remote Sensing Center

Description

The objective is to develop a three dimensional time dependent two-phase model of droplets in a carrying fluid, and to use the model to study droplet plumes generated by injecting CO2 into the ocean. The experiments indicate that droplet size is a crucial parameter to determine the rising distance of the droplet plume. If the objective is to increase fluid density to promote sinking, the CO2 should be injected with small droplet radius and weak background current.
