Analysis of the pharmaceutical market of drugs of Ukraine used in herpes diseases

Introduction. The topic of herpes is one of the acute problems of our time. It is very common among people all over the world, even in Ukraine the rate of people with herpes is very high. Herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) causes oral herpes, which appears mostly around the mouth and affects the surrounding skin. Herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2) causes genital herpes. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 67% of people under the age of 50 worldwide have HSV-1, and 13% of people have HSV-2.Herpes cannot be cured, but it is possible to alleviate the unpleasant sensations during the manifestations of this disease and reduce the likelihood of repeated outbreaks. The main requirement for herpes treatment is a combination of components that would provide an optimal therapeutic effect. The components of the medicinal product should have the following effect: antiviral, immunomodulating, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, the ability to stimulate skin regeneration, reduce itching and pain. Materials and methods. The study of the range of medicinal products was carried out in accordance with the classification system of the ATS and the State Register of Medicinal Products of Ukraine in the following directions: composition, active substance, manufacturer, dosage form. Graphical, statistical and logical methods were used. Results and discussion. Analysis of the State Register of Medicines in the period of 2023 showed that the group of drugs D06BB for local action includes 26 drugs. The group of drugs J05A (subgroups J05AB - 57, J05AX - 67) for systemic use consists of 124 names. In general, combining drugs from these two groups, the number of drugs is 150 names. Also, drugs that had the same original name and dosage form, but had different concentrations of active substances, were considered as one unit. After calculations, the total number of drug names decreased to 103; 23 drugs of group D06BB and 82 drugs of group J05A (subgroups J05AB - 37, J05AX - 45). According to the results of the research of the pharmaceutical market, we found that the majority of medicines presented in the D06BB group are creams 85%, ointments 10% and sprays 5%. Preparations of the J05AB group are presented mainly in the form of tablets, approximately 78.78%. And the percentage of drugs of the J05AX group is mostly also tablets 64.86% and syrups 24.32%. Based on the analysis, the most numerous subgroup is J05AX (41.11%). Next in number is the J05AB subgroup (36.66%). And the smallest among them is D06BB (22.22%). The most common active substance included in these drugs is acyclovir - 26 drugs (28.88%), inosine pranobex - 14 (15.55%). Dolutegravir (8.88%), penciclovir (7.77%) and valacyclovir (7.77%) are less common. Valganciclovir (4.44%), famciclovir (3.33%), ganciclovir (3.33%), Proteflazid extract (3.33%), letermovir (2.22%), amizon (enisamium iodide) (2 .22%); other active substances in 11 preparations occupy only 1.11% each. The analysis of the pharmaceutical market also showed that most of the studied drugs for the treatment of herpes are single-component - 85 names (94.45%), multi-component - 3 names (3.33%), and two-component only 2 (2.22%). Also, according to the results of the analysis, it can be noted that on the pharmaceutical market of Ukraine, the majority of drugs from these three subgroups (D06BB, J05AB, J05AX) are imported from other countries, that is 60.0%. The share of medicines manufactured in Ukraine is 40.0%. The leader among Ukrainian manufacturers is PJSC «Farmak» of Kyiv with 25.0%, in second place is PJSC «Kyivmedpreparat» of Kyiv with 13.88%; the third LLC «DKP «Pharmaceutical Factory» in Zhytomyr 11.11%; the fourth place is shared by: LLC «Pharmaceutical Company «Zdorov'ya» in Kharkiv, LLC «NVK «Ekopharm» in Kyiv, JSC «Kyiv Vitamin Factory» in Kyiv – 8.33% each. Fewer drugs are produced by: «ASTRAPHARM» LLC, Vyshneve, Kyiv Region 5.55%. A very small percentage in the following companies: Joint Ukrainian-Spanish enterprise «Sperco Ukraine» Vinnytsia, PJSC «FITOFARM» Bakhmut, Donetsk region, PJSC «Lekhim – Kharkiv» Kharkiv, PJSC «Technolog» Uman, PJSC «Pharmaceutical firm «Darnytsia» in Kyiv, LLC «PHARMAX GROUP» in Boryspil, Kyiv region, and PJSC «Scientific and Production Center «Borshchagiv Chemical and Pharmaceutical Plant» in Kyiv - 2.77% each. India (27.77%) has the largest percentage in the import of medicines from these subgroups, Germany (9.25%), Spain, Great Britain, Turkey (7.40% each), Poland, Italy, Canada, Ireland have a smaller share (5.55% each), Belgium, Cyprus (3.70% each), and others (11.11% each, 1.85%). Conclusions. Looking at the results of the analysis of drugs used in the treatment of herpes, subgroups D06BB, J05AB and J05AX according to the ATS classification and the State Register of Medicinal Products of Ukraine, it can be said that: most drugs from the D06BB group are presented in the form of creams (85%), drugs from the J05AB and J05AX groups are presented in the form of tablets (78.78% and 64.86%).
