Description

My contribution has a twofold purpose: (1) giving a short, but hopefully convincing introduction to the theoretical aspects justifying the scholarly value of a computational approach to editing and (2) presenting some meaningful results obtained in the praxis. The focus of the second part of the talk will mainly be on the application of XProc pipelines for the automatization of the normalisation process, showing what it meant to translate into code the usually very analogue task of normalising medieval texts, what problems I ran into and what solutions were found. Finally, some prototypical examples from the project for a computational edition of a Losbuch will be presented as a case of reuse of the normalisation pipelines in the context of a fully computational workflow.
