European Literary Bibliography: Aggregation and Harmonization of Literary Bibliographical Data

The main objective of the speech is to present the European Literary Bibliography service (ELB, literarybibliography.eu) as an aggregator of various literary bibliographic data and to show the main assumptions when binding and unifying diverse data sets with different structures. The aim of the ELB service is to collect, merge and provide one interface to present multilingual bibliographical metadata for literary studies, created based on the principles of Linked Open Data and Semantic Web standards. We would like to present the results of work related to the creation of a common data model and data processing workflow for records acquired from different resources, such as the Czech Literary Bibliography, the Polish Literary Bibliography, and the literary content extracted from the National Library of Finland. It was primarily necessary to unify the bibliographic data on authors, source documents, and subject and genre description systems using interoperable external data sources, e.g. VIAF, Geonames and Wikidata. Due to the specificity of the service and plans to expand its content with further national data sources, the workflow for data aggregation is designed in such a way that it can accommodate more data sources. We will also present the future of ELB service, in particular, further work on data harmonization and enrichment, creation of a RDF-based data model and implementation of graph database.
