A Grammar of Kelenga (Hainyaxo), Bozo language of Mali

  • 1. University of Michigan

Description

Reference grammar in pdf format including texts. Also uploaded is the Kelenga lexicon in one xlsx file (with five worksheets) and in five csv files (one for each worksheet). The format of the lexicon is described in an appendix at the end of the grammar. These materials and supporting audio files will also be archived online at Deep Blue Repositories, University of Michigan Libraries.

Like most other Bozo groups, Kelenga people were traditionally fishers.

Similar materials have been published here for the Cliffs Jenaama and Djenne Jenaama-Sorogaama languages, also of the Bozo language family, which is part of the large Mande superfamily. Fieldwork for a similar collection on Tigemaxo has begun (early 2023).

The Bozo project is funded by the (US) National Science Foundartion, Documenting Endangered Languages program.
