Description
The increasing popularity of personalised digital services, together with the growing amount of personal data deployed on those services, forces us to rethink our data collection and processing strategy. Over the last few years, distributed learning and analytics have gained much attention in the industry and academy, primarily because of the promise to deliver more decentralised and privacy-aware digital ecosystems. While many of those proposals deliver satisfactory results and are starting to be employed on a wider basis, it is still quite unclear how the shift from a centralised to decentralised data economy may unfold. While in a centralised data economy, most of the computational burden is laid on the collectors and processors, in the decentralised economy, the consumers are giving away more than just their personal data - it is, therefore, crucial to rethink the architecture of those systems and how they can possibly be made more interactive in order to ensure full compliance and user-awareness.
