Workflow to ontology extension and population – Current steps of automating research data annotation

Poster on the ADCR2022. The overall workflow to extend ontologies based on [Horsch et al.] is extended in this work by exemplary approaches on each of the three steps. Regarding text extraction, an NLP-based Ontology-suggester and concept extraction from natural language is introduced. Furthermore, ways for automated ontology analysis are shown, automatically deriving definitions of concepts from existing ontologies. Finally, ways are briefly explained to combine meta data or research data with ontologies for better findability of data.
