Description
We introduce structure functions, long-standing tools in extra-galactic astronomy, which have been recently applied to studies of young stellar objects. They can characterise the variability in time-series data in a way that doesn’t rely on periodicity. We apply structure functions to analysis of light curves of YSOs in the star forming region NGC 2264.
