LEVEL OF SOCIAL MEDIA ADDICTION AMONG HIGHER SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS

Description

Together with the very rapid digitalization in era, the use of social media is increasing in our country and in the world.
The fast paced youth is addicted to social-media to a great extent. Today, due to technological advances, students waste
a lot of study time using social media instead of tackling academic topics. Therefore, the intention of this study was to
examine the influence of social media on higher secondary school students. The research design involved survey
technique where questionnaires were used to collect data from a sample of 113 students out of which 47 were males
and 66 were females. Findings revealed that there is no significant difference between the attitude of higher secondary
school students toward social media based on gender. Based on these findings, it was recommended that regular
orientation should be given to students on how to and when to use social media to enhance their study habits and
achievement.
