Description
Anthonomus signatus is a beetle in the shrew family that occurs naturally in North America, where it is the most important pest in strawberry cultivation. The damage caused by it can be 100%. This pest could become a significant problem in strawberry cultivation in the PRA area, as Poland is one of the most important producers of this fruit in the world. The probability of the species entering the PRA area seems high due to the fact of importing strawberry seedlings from the USA, which may contain developmental stages of the pest. Therefore, methods to prevent the introduction of the pest into Poland - the introduction of a ban on the import of strawberry seedlings from the area of the pest seems expedient. The use of insecticides is the only available and working method in reducing the number of A. signatus. Attempts to use biological methods and agents of natural origin have little effectiveness effectiveness.
