Data Management for Situating Intangible Cultural Heritage in an Ecological Turn: How ICH is Acculturated to Climate Vision by Digitalisation

Authors/Creators

Description

This PhD project seeks to examine the question of what conceptual shifts climate change implies for the field of intangible cultural heritage (ICH) and how digital transformation can contribute to this conceptual shift. The justification and interest of the research is based on the ever-changing epistemology of ICH. Over the past decade, debates around ICH conservation have been increasingly entwined with broader issues of political, social, and educational concerns, all of which influence how ICH is thought about in the future. This shift in perspective and epistemology is also gradually strengthening the nexus between climate change and ICH. Considering the prevalence and importance of digitalisation in various emerging policies and macro-strategies, the potential for digitalisation to play a role in ICH's engagement with climate issues is yet to be explored.
