Description

Matlab code developed for studying laser cooling of trapped ions in strongly inhomogeneous magnetic fields. The script trajectory_simulation.m runs a molecular-dynamics simulation in which a stochastic multi-level rate equation is used for the light-matter interaction. The scripts figure2.m to figure11.m reproduce most of the plots of the publication "Laser Cooling of Trapped Ions in Strongly Inhomogeneous Magnetic Fields" and give examples of how multiple laser parameters can be scanned.
