Upcycled Waste Plastic as 2025 Home Accessories

Fablab Bohol as the first FABLAB in the Philippines together with the JICA Volunteers and local makers develop this machine called ‘’Heat Press Machine’’. This press machine allows to maximize the use of waste shopping bags thru converting it into an Upcycled Plastic Sheets as a new raw material. The main thrust of this study was to design, fabricate and assess the functionality of Upcycled Plastic Sheets as a Material for a Home Accessories Collection. This experiment further sought to verify the result of the physical and performance level of the material and the acceptability of the material applied in Home Accessories Collection.
As the result of the development of 2025 Home Accessories Collection from upcycled plastic sheets is acceptable as a new alternative material for Home Accessories, according to the respondents for the acceptability level from Cebu City Philippines where also been recognized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Network of Creative Cities as a "City of Design”. Thus, the use of upcycled plastic sheets could be applied into various designs of Home Accessories. It implies that the development of this project thru Fablab has a significant impact to the community.
