THE IMPACT OF CORONAVIRUS ON THE CONSUMER PURCHASE INTENTION IN INDIA

The main objectives of this dissertation were that whether coronavirus pandemic impact on the Indian consumer buying or purchase intention toward the essential FMCG goods. Secondly, the shift in the FMCG goods frequently purchased across the country (specifically India) during the Covid-19 pandemic. Furthermore, the reasons for the high demand for a certain sort of critical FMCG during the Covid-19 pandemic. Lastly, the impact of Covid-19 on the FMCG supply chain on a global and national level in India due to excessive or insufficient purchases.

The assumptions of these dissertation objectives were that whether there would be a shift in the types of FMCG being purchased. Secondly, there would be a shift from non-essential to essential FMCG. Additionally, was there was an impact of covid-19 on the supply chain of FMCG both essential and non-essential goods. Lastly, the factors would majority include the:

  • Financial issues
  • Mental issues like anxiety for future
  • Mental and physical Health care 

It was based on the primary research were the information was gathered through a survey formed though Google Forum and shared among people using social media like WhatsApp and Instagram to fill the survey. There were 54 persons that completed the survey. The review was active from March 1st, 2022, to March 20th, 2022, following the completion of the third or fourth wave in India and a number of other countries. Because of the seriousness of the Coronavirus pandemic and the time constraints, a survey was conducted in a hurry to guide our investigation with evidence whether the assumptions are true or not.

In order to create and perform my survey, the factors that were considered were the criterion was that the applicant must be over the age of 18 and a resident of India. In addition, socio-sector statistics such as orientation, age, yearly wage, and training were acquired. Then, during the COVID-19 pandemic in India, questions on spending levels and customer behavior were incorporated, separating needs from non-necessities. Finally, a series of carefully constructed surveys and normalized measures were used to investigate mental and financial issues. 

This dissertation examines the immediate impact of the COVID-19 epidemic on the purchasing power of individuals in India in order to better understand whether the supply chain of FMCG was the key element affecting the supply chain. The COVID-19 pestilence has had a large impact on how people behave when it comes to food purchase, preparation, and eating. The findings revealed various major buyer designs in India that are now impacting diet and food behavior.
