Description

Aim: The data of Adıyaman emergency health services between the years 2016 and 2019 were examined and compared with other provinces in Turkey and abroad.

Materials and Methods: This descriptive study was conducted retrospectively by evaluating the data of Adıyaman 112 Emergency Health Services between the years 2016 and 2019. In the study, the number of emergency health services stations in the province, the number of cases by years, the time to reach cases in urban and rural areas, KKM and the reaction times of the stations were evaluated.

Results: While the percentage of reached cases in the first 10 minutes in urban cases was 93.91% in 2018, this rate increased to 95.21% in 2019. The percentage of reached cases in the first 30 minutes in rural cases increased from 85.98% in 2018 to 86.78% in 2019. While the number of calls to KKM was 744,148 in 2016, it decreased to 392,510 by 2019. While 40,632 calls resulted in ambulance exits in 2016, this number increased over the years and reached 53,646 in 2019. According to these data, while the false call rate was 94% in 2016, it decreased to 86% in 2019. In 2019, the expected reaction time of the KKM to be under 120 seconds was 48.06 seconds, and the expected reaction time of the stations to be under 90 seconds was 43.91 seconds.

Conclusion: While the provision of the service becomes widespread, its unnecessary use also increases in parallel. The fact that 80% of the applications are due to medical reasons and that more than 80% of the calls to the call centers are unfounded calls make us think that the basic criteria in the provision of this service to our country are in need of change.
