Description

Choloepus didactylus (Linnaeus, 1758). Syst. Nat., 10th ed., 1:35.

TYPE LOCALITY: "Zeylona;" corrected to Surinam by Thomas (1911a). Not British Guiana as stated by Tate (1939).

DISTRIBUTION: Guianas and Venezuela (delta and south of Rio Orinoco) south into Brazil (Maranhâo west along Rio Amazonas/Solimöes) and west into upper Amazon Basin of Ecuador and Peril.

SYNONYMS: brasiliensis Fitzinger, 1871; curi Link, 1795; florenciae J. A. Allen, 1913; kouri Daudin, 1799; napensis Lönnberg, 1922; unau Link, 1795.
