TYPE LOCALITY: Brazil, Amazon River.

DISTRIBUTION: Veracruz (Mexico) to Guianas, E Brazil, Bolivia, and Peru; Trinidad.

SYNONYMS: albigula, albiventer, bicolor, juquiaensis, thyropterus.

COMMENTS: See Wilson and Findley (1977, Mammalian Species, 71).
