Stenomys richardsoni

Description

Stenomys richardsoni (Tate, 1949). Am. Mus. Novit., 1421:1.

TYPE LOCALITY: New Guinea, Irian Jaya, near Lake Habbema, 3225 m.

DISTRIBUTION: New Guinea, Irian Jaya; high mountain slopes in W portion of Central Cordillera (see map and discussion in Taylor et al., 1982).

SYNONYMS: omichlodes.

COMMENTS: Inhabits grassland and tundra-like cold and wet habitats at or above limits of montane forest (Taylor et al., 1982).
