Eulemur macaco (Linnaeus, 1766). Syst. Nat., 12th ed., 1:34.

TYPE LOCALITY: Madagascar.

DISTRIBUTION: Nosi Be and NW Madagascar.

STATUS: CITES - Appendix I; U.S. ESA - Endangered; IUCN - Endangered as E. m. flavifrons, otherwise Vulnerable.

SYNONYMS: flavifrons, leucomystax, niger, nigerrimus.
