Description
This is a participant report, generated by the Learning By Doing research team. The report summarises findings from focus groups conducted with teachers in Australia (conducted November 2021), with and without experience in citizen science, sharing their views on engaging students in citizen science. The report underlies teachers perspectives on integrating citizen science into schools, the perceived outcomes and impacts for students, and ways to evaluate citizen science in schools.
Learning By Doing (LBD) is a research project led by an interdisciplinary group of researchers from The University of Sydney and Taronga Conservation Society Australia. We are passionate about citizen science and its benefits for education and are researching ways to bring citizen science into schools. LBD aims to inform efforts to embed citizen science into the Australian Science Curriculum and will support its goal ‘to develop an understanding of important science concepts and processes, the practices used to develop scientific knowledge, of science’s contribution to our culture and society, and its applications in our lives.’
We want to hear what you think!
