Description

We investigate joint effects of anthropogenic noise pollution and artificial light at night (ALAN) on the sleep behaviour of great tits (Parus major), a model songbird species, in a suburban population in Antwerp, Belgium. Anthropogenic noise and ALAN levels were measured during the night at great tit nest boxes, as described in our publication, and we measured sleep behaviour using infrared video recordings of birds sleeping insight the boxes. Sleep behaviour variables investigated were: sleep duration, entry time, time of sleep onset, awakening time, and exit time from the nest box. This dataset contains information regarding noise and ALAN levels and the sleep behaviour variables. Date of the recording is also indicated. See the accompanying word document for further explanation.
