Description

Patania chlorophanta (Butler, 1878)

Botys chlorophanta Butler, 1878: 58, pl. 39, fig. 8. TL: Yokohama.

Host plants. Betulaceae (Corylus heterophylla Fisch. ex Trautv.), Ebenaceae (Diospyros kaki Thunb.), Fagaceae (Castanea mollissima Blume, Quercus spp., such as Q. acutissima Carruth.), Juglandaceae (Juglans cordiformis Maxim.), Platanaceae (Platanus orientalis L.), Rosaceae (Prunus spp., such as P. serrulata Lindl. f. spontanea (E.H.Wilson) Chin S.Chang), Salicaceae (Populus nigra var. italica Koehne), Scrophulariaceae (Paulownia tomentosa (Thunb.) Steud.), Sterculiaceae (Firmiana simplex (L.) W.F.Wight), Styracaceae (Styrax obassis Siebold et Zucc.) (Bae & Paek, 2006; Bae et al., 2008; Li et al., 2009; Heo, 2012; Yamanaka & Sasaki, 2013).

Distribution. Korea, Southeast Russia, China, Taiwan, Japan, Europe, Sri Lanka (Inoue, 1982; Bae, 2001; Bae & Paek, 2006; Bae et al., 2008; Byun et al., 2009; Li et al., 2009; Yamanaka & Sasaki, 2013).

Remarks. South (1901) considered Botys chlorophanta as a junior synonym of Dichocrocis nelusalis (nilusalis misspelled) from Korea. Currently, these are considered as separated species. Therefore, the first report of Korean Patania chlorophanta is uncertain.
