EFFECT OF RED ROT INFECTION IN SUGARCANE VAR. CO. 86032 AND CO. 265
Creators
Description
Sugarcane is commercially grown in India for sugar production. The crop is affected by red rot caused by
Colletotrichum falcatum Went. leading to severe yield loss. A study was undertaken to assess the impact of
red rot on biochemical parameters of sugarcane var. Co 86032 and Co. 265 under field conditions. The
result showed that primary photosynthetic pigments were reduced by 22.19 % and 16.09 % respectively
compared to healthy leaves.. Infection caused a reduction in soluble sugar content accompanied by an
increase in leaf starch content.
