TYPE LOCALITY: New Zealand, Wellington, Titai Bay.

DISTRIBUTION: Southern Hemisphere, temperate waters, and in the northern Pacific; see Mead, 1981, J. Mammal, 62:430-432.

PROTECTED STATUS: CITES - Appendix II as Order Cetacea.
