TYPE LOCALITY: Chile, Santiago, Valle de la Junta, Canyon of the Rio Volcan, 2400 m.

DISTRIBUTION: Chile.

COMMENT: Hershkovitz, 1962, Fieldiana Zool., 46:499-500, listed this form as a distinct species but doubted that it was separable from mordax. Reviewed by Pine et al., 1979, Mammalia, 43:358.
