Genetta tigrina

Description

Genetta tigrina (Schreber, 1776). Saugethiere, text 1777, 3:425, pl. 115.

TYPE LOCALITY: South Africa, Cape Prov., Cape of Good Hope.

DISTRIBUTION: From the Cape of Good Hope to S. Natal (South Africa) and Lesotho.

COMMENT: May be conspecific with maculata or with angolensis; see Schlawe, 1980, Faun. Abh. Staat. Mus. J. Tierk., Dresden, 7(15): 147— 161; Ansell, 1978:40; Pringle, 1977, Ann. Natal Mus., 23(l):100-101; Cabral, 1966, Zool. Afr., 2:25-26. See also comments under maculata.
