TYPE LOCALITY: U.S.A., California, Imperial Co., Old Fort Yuma.

DISTRIBUTION: Deserts of S.E. California, S. Nevada, W. Arizona (U.S.A.), N.E. Baja California and Sonora (Mexico).

COMMENT: Subgenus Xerospermophilus; see Hall, 1981:405. Gromov et al., 1965:151, considered Xerospermophilus a distinct genus.
