Living with Violence and Trauma: The Case of Rohingya Women in Myanmar and Bangladesh
Description
The primary focus of this book is to explore the gendered aspect of violence. Violence impacts differently on men and women in view of their roles and spaces in society. Women faced an extremely adverse situation as the public-private divides were consistently and systematically violated for them. Their personhood has been violated over and over again. The humiliation and dehumanising of the Rohingyas is a major scar on human civilisation. The book in general aims to understand the various dimensions of gender-based violence in both conflict and peacetime, identify the historical perspective of Rohingya persecution in Myanmar, mapping the genocidal acts committed against Rohingya women and analyse the major challenges facing the Rohingya women in the refugee-like condition in Bangladesh.
