TANA model

The TANA model is an explorative and stylized agent-based model (ABM) built with GAMA (https://gama-platform.org/). Tthe model was developed within the framework of the tana project. It attempts to reproduce the observed patterns by exploring the decision-making processes of agents which represent smallholding subsistence farmer of Antananarivo. Rather than delivering empirical results, the TANA model should provide a virtual laboratory for testing the simple causal roles of demographic, economic and environmental factors which are assumed to shape the land-use system. The different land use options of the households are limited mostly to environmental constraints (also economical). This allows to visually illustrate how the change of the landscape affects the decisions of the households over time and vice versa. Further TANA model aims at showing the distribution of different land uses over time.
