Hoplichthinae Kaup 1873:79 [ref. 2585] (subfamily) Hoplichthys [genus inferred from the stem, Article 11.7.1.1; stem corrected to Hoplichthy- by Gill 1888:357 [ref. 26431] and Gill 1889a:574 [ref. 1729], confirmed by Gill 1893b:135 [ref. 26255], by Jordan & Hubbs 1925:288 [ref. 2486], by Lindberg 1971:196 [ref. 27211] and by Imamura 2004:33 [ref. 29602]; Fowler 1958a:5 [ref. 31840] used Oplichthyicae (superfamily)]
