Description
Coccotrypes carpophagus (Hornung) *
Bostrichus carpophagus Hornung, 1842: 116.
Coccotrypes carpophagus (Hornung): Schedl 1938: 10.
New record. Bhutan, Sergham, 1000m, viii.1982, C. J. Rai (1) (NKME).
Distribution. Circumtropical. Often intercepted in seeds and fruits in temperate zone countries.
Biology. The species breeds in the seeds and fruits of many plant species, particularly palms (Arecaceae).
