The Misaligned Warm Jupiter Around an Evolved Star TOI-1842
Description
The origins of spin-orbit misalignment are still unclear. Current measurements are dominated by short period planets around main sequence stars. Previous work by Rice et al. 2022 showed that warm Jupiters around main sequence stars tend to be aligned. Performing a global fit with a TESS light curve, RV data from Minerva and NRES, and the Rossiter-McLaughlin effect measured with NEID, we find TOI-1842 is a misaligned warm Jupiter orbiting an evolved star. This result may be explained by the evolution of the host star introducing additional instability into the system.
