Habitat Fragmentation Research Brief
Authors/Creators
Description
This outline brief was originally a short plan for a habitat fragmentation project for a government department in 2016. After various refinements and contributions from workshops, the brief grew in size. The information here is based on various literature and guidance from NRW in Wales and Natural England. I used the QGIS plugin 'FragScape' for some of the original research based on the physical characteristics of the Llan river valley in Swansea (also known as the Penllergare Country Park). That particular valley has a lot of edge habitats and some good bird life and mammal activity. Further refinements in 2018 and inputs from various Defra staff and publications.
I still use this framework as a teaching script for fieldwork analysis.
