Hylomyscus pamfi is in the H. alleni species group. Monotypic.

Distribution. Dahomey Gap in Togo, Benin, and W Nigeria; it is presumed to occur in extreme E Ghana E of Volta River.

Descriptive notes. Head-body 56-105 mm, tail 59-121 mm, ear 11-14 mm, hindfoot 16-19 mm. No specific data are available for body weight. Fur of the Dahomey Gap Wood Mouse is soft and dense, red-brown on dorsum and flanks and whitish gray below. Tail is very long (c.131% of head-body length) and appears naked exceptfortuft of hair at tip. Fifth digit on hindfoot is opposable and almost as long as second to fourth digits. Females have four pairs of nipples. Incisorsare orthodont.

Habitat. Dense forest in lowlands.

Activity patterns. The Dahomey Gap Wood Mouse is presumably arboreal and nocturnal.

Status and Conservation. Classified as Data Deficient on The IUCN Red List.
