Current Progress on Sterile Neutrino Global Fits in 2022
Description
We present the latest global fits to 3+1 and more complex models from the Columbia-Harvard-MIT group. Since our update for Neutrino 2020, new experiments have been added to the fit, including IceCube, and several have been updated. Also, for the first time, the Δχ2 as a test statistic has been contextualized with using frequentist tests for every short baseline experiment, to better understand the distribution on oscillating data. We show that this does not follow a χ2 distribution. These frequentist tests allow comparison of the observation to the expected sensitivity through ``Brazil plots,'' and experiments with large deviations are discussed.
