  • 1. ASSISTANT PROFESSOR SKGMC, SIKAR, RAJASTHAN (MD Community Medicine from PGIMS, Rohtak)

Description

As NMC introduced new CBME curriculum from 2019 MBBS batch onwards with the goal to create “Indian Medical Graduate” possessing requisite knowledge, skills, attitudes, values and responsiveness so that they function appropriately as “physician of first contact” of the community while being “globally relevant”.

With best of knowledge I have gained in my previous learning and teaching years, I have compiled the material of required competencies of Community Medicine, AETCOM and Pandemic Management in Phase wise manner thereby making things less cumbersome for students and teachers both.

The revised Competency based Medical Education Curriculum has specified certain SH (Show How), Certifiable Competencies that a student must attain in order to become eligible for University examination. The best part of revised curriculum is that it has clearly defined teaching and learning strategies for the competencies also.

In this new curriculum, early clinical exposure, integrated teaching, skill development, Small Group Discussions, AETCOM and Self-directed Learning have been introduced. There is also emphasis on communication skills, basic clinical skills and professionalism. There is a paradigm shift from the traditional didactic classroom-based teaching to learning environments where there is emphasis on learning by exploring, questioning, applying, discussing, analyzing, reflecting, collaborating and doing.

This is enriched with the fact that students feedback is now equally important when it comes to topics that are must to be acquired.

With this view in mind the log book has been designed as per the guidelines of Competency Based Curriculum.
