A High-Energy Sterile Neutrino Search in IceCube with Cascades
Description
An ongoing analysis in IceCube regarding sterile neutrino oscillations is discussed. For up-going TeV-energy antineutrinos, matter-enhanced resonances for eV-scale sterile neutrinos with non-zero $theta_{24}$ and $theta_{34}$ lead to a strong enhancement of cascade-like event signatures through $nu_{mu}tonu_{s}tonu_{tau}$ oscillations and allow for a direct $nu_{tau}$ appearance probe.Non-zero $thera_{14}$ would lead to a similar appearance signature through $nu_{mu}tonu_{s}tonu_{e}$ oscillations and allow IceCube to study the signal-like features observed by gallium-based neutrino experiments.Such ongoing analyses are presented here with IceCube's expected sensitivity to sterile neutrino oscillations parameters through cascade appearance.
