"Quo Vadis, Domine?" A Canonicidade do Martírio Petrino

Resumo: O objetivo desse trabalho visa averiguar a canonicidade das narrativas que envolvem a paixão do Apóstolo Pedro que, embora não constem nos livros bíblicos, acabaram por deter certo “status canônico” para algumas vertentes do cristianismo ao longo da história. Esses episódios estão tão disseminados nas artes, cultura e no imaginário popular dos últimos 2000 anos, que nos leva a crer que foram considerados sagrados para as comunidades cristãs em algum momento. Assim, de forma a melhor compreendermos a origem e o conteúdo de tais passagens, partiremos da formação do cânon neotestamentário, seguido de uma breve hagiografia petrina e, por fim, compilaremos os relatos envoltos em seu martírio. Para esse intento, nos utilizaremos dos livros contidos no Novo Testamento, dos “Atos Apócrifo de Pedro”, dos comentários dos Pais Apostólicos e da própria tradição cristã. 

Abstract: The objective of this work is to investigate the canonicity of the narratives that involve the Petrine Passion that, although not included in the biblical books, ended up holding a certain "canonical status" for some strands of Christianity throughout history. These episodes are widespread in the arts, culture and popular imagination of the last 2000 years, which leads us to believe that they were considered sacred by Christian Communities at some point. Thus, in order to better understand the origin and content of such events, we shall start with the formation of the New Testament canon, followed by a brief hagiography of the Apostle Peter and, finally, we will compile the accounts involved in his martyrdom. For this purpose, we shall use the New Testament, the “Apocryphal Acts of Peter”, the commentaries of the Apostolic Fathers and the Christian Tradition itself.
