Comparing approaches for new AudioWorklets
Description
AudioWorklets are consolidating as a general platform for running arbitrary audio signal processing code on web browsers. A distinctive feature is the ability to use WebAssembly code instead of JavaScript. While WebAssembly allows using existing DSP code written in C/C++, a relevant question is whether there is an advantage with respect to JavaScript when writing new AudioWorklets. This paper describes several approaches for implementing WebAssembly AudioWorklets, and compares them to plain JavaScript and native implementations.
