Taxonomy. Neodon linzhiensis Liu Shaoying et al., 2012, Gongbu Nature Reserve, E Linzhi, Xizang, China.

This species is monotypic.

Distribution. Known only from five localities in SE Tibet [= Xizang], S China.

Descriptive notes. Head-body 92-115 mm, tail 24-39 mm, ear 12-15 mm, hindfoot 16— 20 mm; weight 26-48 g. Back of the Linzhi Mountain Vole is black-brown, which blends into black-gray underpart. Dorsal tail is black-brown, and undersideis light gray-white. Forelimbs are black-gray, and hindlimbs are dark gray. Females have eight mammae. Skull is robust, with straight dorsal profile. Temporal ridges are very distinct and mergeto interorbital crest. M, has five closed triangles.

Habitat. Abandoned farmland and along footpath ofrice field where highland barley was grown at elevations of 3640-3890 m.
